George Redmond has been awarded the costs of his successful appeal against his conviction for corruption.
However, the Court of Criminal Appeal refused his application for the cost of his lengthy trial.
It is estimated the State will have to pay his legal fees of about €70,000.
It has also been confirmed that Mr Redmond will not be pursuing further compensation from the State for a miscarriage of justice.
