The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that an Irish journalist who was arrested in Cambodia at the weekend has been released.
Kevin Doyle, who edits an English language newspaper in the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, was among a group of four men who were detained while trying to locate a group of Vietnamese refugees in the east of the country.
The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that it was sent an email from the British Embassy in Phnom Penh via the Irish Embassy in Beijing.
The email said the journalist and his three companions had been set free.
Robert Doyle said his brother and the three other men were in a remote part of the country and have not yet been contacted.
