A new project putting gardaí on mountain bikes was launched this morning in four regions of the country.
The project promises the public greater mobility for officers in the fight against crime.
The Garda Mountain Bicycle Patrols were set up last year in Dublin, but have now been extended to daily duties in Waterford, Drogheda, Naas and Athlone.
