The Minister of State for Finance, Tom Parlon, has admitted that there has been a disappointing response from the staff of State agencies to the Government's decentralisation plans.

However, Mr Parlon insisted there were clear indications that many people in the civil service do want to avail of the opportunity to move.

It emerged at the weekend that in some State agencies no staff at all wanted to leave Dublin.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio, Mr Parlon did not rule out further inducements in cases where substantial numbers of civil servants did not want to move with a department or agency.
