In the first major challenge to the Government's smoking ban, a Galway publican has decided to allow customers to smoke in his bar.
Ciaran Levanzin is allowing smoking at Fibber Magee's Pub, on Eyre Square, because of what he called a 'disastrous loss of business'.
He said his business was down by 63% since this time last year and the pub had to let go one third of its staff.
The decision to allow smoking in this bar is the first head on challenge to the Government's no-smoking ban.
The Western Health Board which has responsibility for implementing the no-smoking regulations says it is to mount an investigation.
