Marc Dutroux has been given a life sentence for his involvement in the abduction, rape and murder of a number of teenage girls in Belgium in the 1990s.

Dutroux was convicted on Thursday of murdering two of the girls, and of kidnapping and raping the others. His former wife Michele Martin was sentenced to 30 years.

Another accomplice, Michel Lelievre, was sentenced to 25 years for his involvement in the kidnapping of six girls. The sentences were handed down in Arlon Court in South Eastern Belgium.
