Appeals heard against RDS development

An Bord Pleanála today began hearing appeals against a €100 million development at the Royal Dublin Society's lands in Ballsbridge, Dublin.

The RDS wants to build five office blocks on its lands at Anglesea Road and Simmonscourt Road.

It also proposes upgrading the Anglesea Stand and demolishing a number of structures. There are 21 appeals against the plans.

This morning, the board heard submissions from the Poor Clare Nuns, an enclosed order which says the development will be an invasion of its privacy and confidentiality.

Local residents' associations are also objecting to the plans.
