11 Chinese road workers and an Afghan have been killed and six other people wounded in a gun attack in Afghanistan.
Gunmen burst into a compound in the northeastern province of Kunduz and fired into tents as the workmen were sleeping.
About 100 Chinese workers had been housed in the camp, along with dozens of vehicles and equipment needed for their work.
It is one of the worst attacks on foreigners since the fall of the Taliban regime.
Kunduz had been considered secure as Islamic insurgents concentrated attacks in southern and eastern Afghanistan.
