The mother of the late Princess Diana, Frances Shand Kydd, has died.
A spokesman for her family said she died this morning after suffering from a long illness.
The 68-year-old grandmother of Princes William and Harry lived alone on the remote Scottish island of Seil, near Oban.
Mrs Shand Kydd's health had deteriorated since the loss of her daughter and she had been hospitalised on several occasions.
