The Minister for Communications, Dermot Ahern, has published the RTÉ Charter, which outlines the station's mandate and new obligations to the public arising from a recent consultation process.
The charter includes RTÉ's public service remit, regional emphasis, social inclusion, accountability and provision of services.
With reference to accountability, the charter states that RTÉ should publish broad frameworks for its schedule in advance, with commitments for individual channels and report on its performance against targets set.
