The Director General of RTÉ has strongly denied reports in today's Sunday Independent that the organisation lost €5 million last year.
Cathal Goan said the 2003 annual report, which has not yet been published, will in fact show a surplus.
He was speaking after figures released today showed Gerry Ryan to be the top earner in RTÉ for the year 2002.
