The trial of Circuit Court judge Brian Curtin has been adjourned in Tralee until tomorrow morning.

Earlier, the 52-year-old pleaded not guilty to a charge of knowingly possessing child pornography contrary to Section 6 of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act 1998, at 24 Ard na Lí, Tralee on 27 May, 2002.

A jury of seven men and five women were sworn in just before lunchtime. However, the trial was adjourned after lunch until 10am tomorrow on the application of prosecution counsel Mary Ellen Ring.

Earlier Judge Karl Moran indicated that the case may run for up to three weeks.

Judge Curtin's home was one of around 100 premises searched by gardaí under Operation Amethyst.

Conviction carries a maximum sentence of five years in jail with a fine of up to €6,300.
