The former Yugoslav President, Slobodan Milosevic, wants to call British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former US President Bill Clinton as witnesses when he comes to present his defence at his war crimes trial in the Hague in June.
Mr Milosevic is accused of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo in the 1990s.
His witness list numbers over 1,600 people, more than five times the number called by the prosecution.
The judges must rule on which witnesses are relevant and who may appear.
