Gunmen shoot five policemen in Pakistan

Gunmen have stormed a police station in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi and shot dead five officers.

The attackers entered the small post near the airport in the east of the city as some of the policemen were at morning prayers.

Officers at the scene said up to a dozen gunmen riding in two or three cars went to the police station and sprayed bullets on the premises.

One of the gunmen was killed as police officers returned fire, while the others escaped by car.

The attack came a day after police arrested Afaq Ahmed, an opposition party leader.
