A Co Limerick man has been jailed for nine years for firearms and explosives offences.

Michael Scanlon, 26, from St Mary's Terrace in Askeaton faced four charges in relation to a garda raid on a house at Lockmore, Mungret on 3 June 2003.

Last month he pleaded guilty to having an under car booby trap bomb, a sterling sub machine gun and a quantity of ammunition and explosives at the house on the day of the raid.
