Gardaí investigating the circulation of a pornographic picture of a schoolgirl are understood to be focusing their inquiries on a school in Dublin.
The picture was sent to hundreds of people via camera phones. Specialised computer software was used to enhance the picture, allowing gardaí to identify the crest on the school jumper which the girl was wearing.
The investigation was initially centred in Cork after gardaí there received a complaint that a teenage girl from Glanmire was the person featured in the image. But after gardaí spoke to the teenager and her parents she was ruled out of the inquiry, as were a number of other teenagers in Cork.
Efforts will continue to establish the circumstances in which the picture was taken and to identify the girl in the picture and establish who was responsible for circulating it.
