40th anniversary of Kennedy's death

Americans have gathered in remembrance of the assassination of President John F Kennedy, who was shot in Dallas Texas 40 years ago.

The Kennedy family had requested there be no official commemoration, but crowds assembled at his grave outside Washington and at the site of the shooting to lay flowers.

George W Bush has said the memory of the Irish American president still brings to the United States a sense of both pride and loss.
