Ex-soldier admits killing four on Bloody Sunday

An ex-paratrooper has admitted killing, but denied 'murdering', at least four people on Bloody Sunday.

'Soldier F' has spent two days giving evidence to the Saville Inquiry into the 1972 killing of civil rights marchers in the Bogside in Derry.

In a dramatic development, he admitted killing Barney McGuigan, who was shot dead as he waved a white handkerchief while going to the aid of a dying man.

The former lance corporal also conceded that he killed Patrick Doherty but said he was shooting at an armed man.

He also admitted killing teenager Michael Kelly and another man he claimed was hurling a nail bomb.

The fourth man was identified as possibly William McKinney, who was shot as he ran for shelter.
