German police smash child porn ring

Police in Germany say an international child pornography ring with distribution lists, involving thousands of suspects in 166 different countries, has been cracked.

Investigators said they had been led to around 26,000 suspects who swapped illegal images using the Internet.

In Germany, more than 500 homes were raided this week and 750 computers confiscated.

The authorities, led by Interpol and other agencies, claim to have identified almost 40 Internet swap circles for pornographic material featuring children.
