A 35-year-old Dublin man has been jailed for life for the murder of a father of five on St Stephen's Day 2001.
Shay Wildes from Corbally Park, Blessington Road, Tallaght had denied the murder of 48-year-old Joseph Cummins from Donore Crescent.
Mr Cummins was shot once in the back of the head at close range.
An eye-witness told Wildes' trial he would never forget what he saw.
The witness said Wildes got out of the passenger side of a car armed with a handgun, walked three paces to Joseph Cummins and shot him.
Wildes then discharged two further shots and walked back to his car.
The eye-witness noted the number of the getaway car and the murder weapon and ammunition were later discovered in Wildes' home.
A jury in the Central Criminal Court found Wildes guilty of murder by unanimous verdict and Mr Justice Paul Carney sentenced him to life in prison.
