The inquest into the death of a 14-year-old girl in Co Donegal last July has ended.
The Deputy State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy told the inquest that Geraldine Chambers died due to morphine intoxication.
Earlier, the inquest heard how she and her friend had planned to take an overdose of tablets and kill themselves.
The body of Geraldine Chambers, of Rosgeer, Lifford, was found in a field in July 2002.
Her 14-year-old friend was huddled next to her unconscious but later recovered in hospital.
In a deposition read to the inquest in Letterkenny today, Geraldine Chambers' friend said Geraldine had told her she had lived her life and had nothing more to do and asked her to arrange her funeral.
The friend told her she was only 14 and had done nothing but she said Geraldine was determined to take her life and she decided to take her life too.
Geraldine took morphine from her home which belonged to her grandmother and her friend took iodine tablets from her home.
Early on a Sunday night, the two teenagers drank a bottle of vodka in the company of friends but the inquest heard that at around 2am they went to a field on their own where they took the tablets.
The jury was shown four suicide notes which Geraldine had written to members of her family. They were not read out in public.
