In Sweden, commemoration rallies have been held for murdered Foreign Minister Anna Lindh.
But the latest opinion poll says there will be no sympathy vote in favour of joining the Euro at this weekend's referendum.
It gives the 'No' campaign a commanding twelve point lead ahead of Sunday's vote.
Meanwhile police have released without charge two men they were holding in connection with the killing.
Ms Lindh was stabbed in the arm, abdomen and chest by an unknown assailant while she was out shopping in Stockholm on Wednesday.
She died in hospital yesterday of massive internal bleeding.
Thousands attend anti-violence rally
The Swedish Prime Minister Goeran Persson led an anti-violence rally attended by thousands of people in the country's capital, Stockholm.
Mr Persson told the crowd that democracy would not work unless Swedish people took responsibility for it.
He urged them to vote in the referendum on joining the single European currency.
Ms Lindh had supported a 'yes' vote in the referendum, but police say there is no reason to suspect a political motive
