In the North, firefighters have rescued six people from two separate fires, both of which are being investigated by the police.
In Co Tyrone, a man was led to safety from a burning flat, while in Bangor, Co Down, an entire block of flats was evacuated, while a blaze was dealt with.
The five residents closed all internal doors and made their way to an open window for fresh air while they awaited the fire brigade.
The fire services says this quick thinking saved their lives.
