Gearbox trouble halts Cabin Fever 2

It has been confirmed that the replacement for the original Cabin Fever ship needs a new gearbox.

One has been ordered from Coventry in England and it is expected in Killybegs at noon tomorrow where it will be fitted, and the plan then is to leave the port at 4.00pm for Galway.

Stewart Switzer MD of CoCo Productions, which produces the programme for RTÉ, said he is confident Cabin Fever 2 will arrive in Galway with six hours to spare before Monday night's live broadcast.

The first ship was wrecked on rocks off Tory Island earlier this month.

The new vessel, which is registered as the Johanna Lucretia, left Sligo on Tuesday evening after a re-launch of the programme the previous night.
