There has been an almost 14-fold increase in complaints of racism in the Irish workplace in the past two years, according to the Chief Executive of the Equality Authority.
Niall Crowley told the annual conference of the Congress of Trade Unions in Tralee that foreign workers had experienced excessive working hours, unequal pay, poor working conditions and even dismissal.
He said race related discrimination complaints had risen from just 2% of the authority's workload to 27% of their files.
