Gardaí have seized guns, ammunition and an explosive device for use as a car bomb at a house outside Limerick city.
An Army bomb disposal team defused the device.
The items were recovered during a garda raid on a rented house just outside Limerick City, near the village of Patrickswell, this afternoon.
A quantity of cocaine and heroin was seized and four men were arrested.
The four - one in his 60s, one in his 40s, and two in their 30s - have been arrested under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and are being held at a number of Garda Stations in Limerick City.
It is understood the arrests are connected to the ongoing investigation into a feud in the city which led to the murder of Kieran Keane last January.
