Gardaí investigating illegal dumping in Co Wicklow have sent a number of files on the matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Wicklow County Manager Eddie Sheehy told the Council meeting today that he expected further files would be sent in the very near future.
Investigations into illegal dumps at the Roadstone Quarry near Blessington suggest that the waste came from Wicklow.
Commercial, domestic and construction waste were found at four separate sites of the quarry owned by Roadstone, a wholly owned subsidiary of building supplier giant CRH.
The Council's Director of Services, Michael Nicholson, said the Roadstone illegal dump was unlike the others already investigated where much of the material came from Dublin.
He said the consultants' report on the illegal dumping in the Roastone quarry was very near complete.
He told councillors that three further suspected illegal dumps would be investigated by the end of the year.
He also believed that two prosecutions of dumps already uncovered would go before the courts before the summer legal recess.
