Winner of 2003 IMPAC literary award announced

Orhan Pamuk's 'My Name is Red' has been named as this year's winner of the €100,000 IMPAC literary award.

The murder mystery, which explores the themes of love and artistic devotion, was translated from Turkish by Erdag Goknar.

The Istanbul-based author has written six other novels and recently was the recipient of major Turkish and international literary awards. His work has been translated into more than twenty languages.

The International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award involves libraries from all corners of the globe, and is open to books written in any language.

It is a joint initiative of Dublin City Council, the Municipal Government of Dublin City, and the productivity improvement company IMPAC.
