Vintners' Federation want action on report

The Vintners' Federation of Ireland has called for the urgent enactment of the recommendations outlined in the report by the Liquor Licensing Commission on admission and service in licensed premises.

In a statement issued at the VFI's annual conference in Letterkenny, the group's chief executive, Tadgh O'Sullivan, said that one of the most important recommendations is the strengthening of a licensee's right to refuse admission or service to any person who, by acting in a violent or disorderly manner, poses a risk to the health or safety of a publican, employees or customers.

The report also proposes that a failure to leave premises when requested be considered an offence.
