A new survey in the North indicates that the vast majority of solicitors and barristers have not reported any difficulty in their dealings with police officers.
The study was carried out by the Police Ombudsman's Office and has been supported by the Northern Ireland Bar Council and Law Society.
However it also found that 55 solicitors and barristers said they had suffered problems.
The Police Ombudsman, Nuala O'Loan, said while the allegations do not paint a picture of widespread mistreatment, those that were made must be a matter of concern.
