Junior Minister regrets speeding incident

Junior Agriculture Minister, Noel Treacy, has expressed regret after his driver was convicted of speeding at 95 miles per hour last September.

The driver was ordered to pay €500 to charity. However he said he was acting on the orders of the Minister.

Mr Treacy has admitted that he was unaware of what speed the car was being driven at and blamed his tight schedule for the incident.

He was being driven to a Dáil debate at the time. Speaking on RTE radio this morning, Mr Treacy said it would not happen again.
