Ten-year jail terms for bank raiders

Each of the three Dublin men convicted of conspiring to rob the AIB bank in Abbeyleix and stealing three cars last December have received prison sentences of 10 years.

During the raid, Detective Sergeant John Eiffe was shot dead by a colleague's ricocheted bullet.

Thirty-seven-year-old John Bishop of Clondalkin, 33-year-old Kevin Lynch and 21-year-old Ian Quinn, both from Tallaght, were sentenced to 10 years on the conspiracy charge and five years for the car theft.

Judge Carroll Moran ruled that all sentences would run concurrently.

He also disqualified them from driving for 20 years.
