The Flood Tribunal has revealed that it is currently investigating 30 different matters, 20 of which relate to different areas of land in and around the capital.
Resuming public sittings, lawyers for the tribunal said they had received 90,000 pages of documents in the last week alone, and more information is coming in on a daily basis.
Counsel for the Tribunal John Gallagher said in an opening statement that the Tribunal is to begin with an investigation into allegations related to land in South Dublin at Carrickmines.
Arcade owner to appear as witnessThe Tribunal called the gaming arcade owner Jim Kennedy and his wife, Antoinette, to appear as witnesses before the inquiry next month. It is not known whether Mr Kennedy or his wife will appear.
Mr Kennedy has been linked to the company, Jackson Way, which is being investigated by the Tribunal. He lives offshore and has not applied to the Tribunal for legal representation.
Access to statement deniedLawyers for the former TD and Fine Gael councillor, Liam Cosgrave, were earlier refused access to parts of Frank Dunlop's statements to the Tribunal. It emerged that in letters to the Tribunal, Mr Cosgrave's counsel described the former lobbyist as a 'self-confessed perjurer'.
Frank Dunlop will claim that he gave at least three payments to Mr Cosgrave on the understanding that the councillor would 'assist' with re-zoning motions. Liam Cosgrave will contest that no such understanding existed.
