The Law Society has called for a proper cost benefit analysis of the Government's proposed Personal Injuries Assessment Board before taking any steps to implement it.
The call was made today at the launch of the societies own proposals to reduce personal injury litigation cost.
The Law Society's report contains 50 recommendations for the reform of the personal injury litigation system.
The Society expressed concern as to whether the Government proposed PIAB made economic sense.
A number of recent reports have criticised the proposals for adding another more expensive layer to the compensations system. It has been estimated that it would cost €38 million to set up.
