Gardaí say the Chinese man who died at Beaumont hospital this afternoon following an attack in Dublin has been identified as Chen Li Ming.
The 22-year-old had an address at Ryecroft, Bray, County Wicklow.
Detectives in Crumlin are trying to establish what happened to the man.
He was admitted to hospital after he called to a house Captain's Road in Crumlin at around 5am on Wednesday.
He had a severe head injury but could only speak broken English.
He was taken by taxi to St James's hospital but at 7pm last night he was transferred to Beaumont where he died this afternoon.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who were in the Crumlin area around Captain's Road on the night of the incident especially taxi or hackney drivers.
