The North's new Chief Constable, Hugh Orde, who begins his five year contract tomorrow, says he is looking forward to what is regarded as one of the most challenging policing jobs in Europe. RTÉ will broadcasting an extensive interview with Mr Orde in a special Prime Time programme at 10.40 pm tonight.
Interviewed by RTÉ's Northern Editor, Tommie Gorman, the new chief constable says he has confidence in the North's Policing structures, including the Ombudsman's Offfice and the Policing Board.
Mr Orde, who has worked on the investigation into the controversial murder of Belfast solicitor Pat Finnucane, said he has not given up hope of a development in that inquiry.
