The United States has taken issue with a United Nations report on the al-Qaeda terrorist network, which found that it remains well financed and capable of striking again at will.
The UN document said that the group founded by Osama bin Laden continued to have access to money and weapons and that its members were still managing to cross international borders.
But the Treasury Department in Washington judged the report to be incomplete and insisted that the global effort to choke off funding for al-Qaeda was succeeding.
