Maxine Carr allowed to give evidence by video link

Maxine Carr, one of the two people accused in connection with the murders of the two Cambridgeshire schoolgirls, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, will be allowed to appear on a video link instead of in person at a court hearing tomorrow.

The decision was made to avoid a repetition of angry scenes at her first court appearance in Peterborough last week, when hundreds of people shouted abuse.

She has been charged with perverting the course of justice.

Police investigating the deaths of the two ten-year-olds say toxicology tests on their bodies have been completed. However the results may not be known for some time.

The bodies have been released to the families ahead of a public memorial service on Friday and private funeral services next week.

The two schoolgirls from Cambridgeshire went missing on 4 August. Their bodies were subsequently found in neighbouring Suffolk on 17 August.

A former college caretaker, Ian Huntley, has been charged with their murders.

The BBC and Sky News have handed over videotapes of interviews with Mr Huntley and Ms Carr to police following a request by investigating officers.
