A jury in the US has found a 50-year-old engineer and father of two guilty of kidnapping and murdering a seven-year-old girl.
The case which has dominated American news bulletins for weeks.
The San Diego jury deliberated for nine days before finding David Westerfield guilty of murdering Danielle van Dam.
Danielle disappeared from her home in an affluent San Diego suburb on 1 February.
Jurors will now have to determine whether Westerfield should be sentenced to life in prison without parole or death by lethal injection.
