RTÉ has announced that Adrian Moynes is to succeed Helen Shaw as Director of Radio. Mr Moynes, who is currently Head of the Director General’s Office, will take up the post with effect from 1 September.
A native of County Armagh, Mr Moynes joined RTÉ in 1979, after a five-year teaching commitment at further and higher levels.
During his time with the state broadcaster, Mr Moynes has worked as a producer on both radio and TV, as the editor of Young People's Programmes and as Head of Scheduling in TV.
Since 1997 he has worked in the Director-General's office, initially as Specialist Assistant and subsequently as Head of the Office.
In his current post, Mr Moynes has reporting responsibility for Radio na Gaeltachta, RTÉ Music, Freedom of Information, and is a management representative on the Industrial Relations Tribunal.
Mr Moynes is an Irish speaker and holds an MA in English from Balliol College, Oxford.
