President Mary McAleese has sent a message of congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her Golden Jubilee.
In her message, the President said she knew that the people of Ireland would wish to join her in sending their good wishes on this very special anniversary.
Tonight, up to a million people gathered outside Buckingham Palace in London for a pop concert to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee.
Queen guitarist, Brian May, started proceedings by playing the national anthem from the palace roof.
