A man is in a critical condition in the Mater Hospital tonight after he walked into a garda station in Dublin and shot himself in the head.
The man underwent surgery tonight, with doctors fighting to save his life.
The incident occurred in front of three Gardaí and a member of the public in the public office of Fitzgibbon Street station.
Gardaí have identified the man but are not releasing his name at present.
