Post-mortem carried out on Chinese attack victim

A post-mortem has been carried out on the Chinese national who died following an assault in Dublin on Monday night. The 29-year-old man died in hospital following what is thought to have been a racially motivated attack.

The man had been walking home with two Chinese friends in the northern suburb of Drumcondra, when a gang of youths confronted them and began hurling racist taunts. Scuffles broke out, during which the man was struck repeatedly on the head with an iron bar.

Two people were arrested on Monday night and released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
