British Army bomb experts have been called to examine a suspect device at the home of Sinn Féin Assembly member, Alex Maskey. The device was thrown into the front garden of Mr. Maskey's home in Andersonstown.
In a separate development, the death of a man whose body was found at the base of a cliff near Belfast last week is being investigated by the North's Police Ombudsman.
Stephen McCullough's body was discovered at the foot of the Cave Hill in the north of the city last Wednesday. He had been arrested for suspected drink-driving hours before his death.
Police say he had told them that he wanted to talk to detectives about the murder of the postal worker, Daniel McColgan, the previous weekend.
The Ombudsman is required to investigate his death because he had been in custody within the previous 24 hours.
