Andrews visits three Irishmen in Colombia

David Andrews has met the three Irishmen arrested in Colombia on suspicion of helping the FARC guerrilla movement.

The former Minister for Foreign Affairs says that the case is at a sensitive stage, as the Colombian authorities are deciding whether or not to prosecute them.

Mr Andrews has met Niall Connolly, Martin McAuley and James Monaghan. He is visiting Columbia in his capacity both as local TD for one of the men and also as chairman of the Irish Red Cross.

He has issued some reassurance about the conditions under which three Irishmen are being detained.
