Two men have been charged at a County Antrim court with the murder of a retired RUC officer. William Kennedy, who was 65, was found dead on Sunday at his home at Ahoghill in Antrim.
The two defendants, who are from Ahoghill, are 25-year-old Alan McCooke, a production worker from Galgorm Road, and 21-year-old Mervyn Williamson, who is unemployed and from Brookefield Gardens. Both men deny the charges. They were remanded in custody to appear again in the New Year.
The body of Mr Kennedy was discovered by his daughter. The Police Service of Northern Ireland said that the former sergeant suffered a brutal and vicious death.
