The Northern Secretary has insisted that there was no warning of a bomb in Omagh before the attack on the town in 1998. Twenty-nine people were killed in the explosion.
Dr John Reid was again responding to a leaked report, by the Police Ombudsman, which states that the RUC Special Branch had received information indicating a planned attack on the County Tyrone town eleven days before the bombing.
Dr Reid reiterated that the report into police handling of the atrocity did not state that the information could have averted the tragedy.
Ombudsman Nuala O'Loan will publish her report on Wednesday.
