RTÉ sweeps the board at the National Media Awards

RTÉ has won nine of the categories in this year's ESB National Media Awards, four of the winners are in the Newsroom. The Minister for Public Enterprise Mary O'Rourke, and the ESB Chairman, Tadgh O'Donoghue, made the presentations this afternoon.

Mark Little and Eddie Doyle were the Television Journalists of the Year. Morning Ireland's Des Cahill shared the Sport award in the Radio Category with Adrian Eames. Colm Murray won the equivalent prize in Television.

Tony Connelly took the award for Campaigning and Social Issues. Joe Duffy won a similar honour for Radio. George Jackson was the winner of the Radio News and Current Affairs category, and the winners in the Television were Angela Daly and Mike Milotte.

The Features and Documentaries in Television award went to Niamh O'Connor and Fiona McCarthy. A similar prize went to Tim Lehane in Radio.

Matt Cooper, Editor of the Sunday Tribune, was the overall Journalist of the Year for his coverage of the Fine Gael funding controversy.
