The US Supreme Court has rejected a request from Microsoft Corporation to overturn an earlier ruling. The ruling stated that the software multinational had violated the country's antitrust laws.
The US Court of Appeals in Washington ruled last June that Microsoft had illegally maintained its monopoly over the market for personal computer operating systems.
In its Supreme Court appeal, Microsoft argued that the original ruling in the case was tainted because of misconduct by the judge after the trial. In interviews, the judge, Thomas Penfield Jackson, compared Microsoft executives to common street criminals.
