New arrest in US terror probe

Police in the United States have reportedly arrested a second man in connection with the attacks on the World Trade Centre (WTC) in New York. The man was taken into custody in neighbouring New Jersey yesterday.

The FBI arrested another man in New York on Friday. According to officials, 25 people, who are in custody, have been or will be questioned about the hijackings. Nearly 5,000 people are now thought to be missing. Some 150 bodies have been recovered so far.

A passport belonging to one of the hijackers has been recovered several blocks from the WTC building, New York police said today. Investigators believe it is possible that other personal effects from the hijackers might have been expelled from the crash scene when the planes made impact with the skyscrapers.

They have decided to launch an intensive grid search of the area near the WTC disaster zone in the hopes of finding other important evidence.
